Super League: Maika Sivo hat-trick takes Leeds to win over Castleford as Hull KR bounce back against Huddersfield

Maika Sivo scored a hat-trick as Leeds claimed a 22-4 Betfred Super League win over Castleford.

The winger's impressive contribution took his tally to nine tries in three games and secured three successive Super League wins for the Rhinos.

Castleford fell behind at Headingley when George Brown opened the scoring with his first Super League try and Jake Connor converted.

The visitors then replied when Darnell McIntosh quickly offloaded for Mikaele Ravalawa to cross in the corner, but Tom Weaver's subsequent conversion attempt flew wide.

Sivo opened his account in the 29th minute. Leeds claimed a 10-4 lead at half-time and Sivo extended their advantage further early in the second half from the wing, with Connor converting.

Rhinos charged ahead when Sivo scored his third of the game in the 55th minute, with Connor's kick also successful.

Leeds then saw out the win to climb into second in the table, two points behind leaders Wigan, while the Tigers sit in 10th.

Hull KR shrugged off their Las Vegas nightmare and belatedly kick-started the defence of their Betfred Super League title with a 32-6 win at hapless Huddersfield.

Rovers were half a world away from last season's all-conquering treble-winning campaign when they crashed to a 58-6 loss to Leeds at the Allegiant Stadium last week.

They were effectively gifted their first points of the domestic year as Tom Davies and Mikey Lewis both crossed twice in a six-try show against the rock-bottom Giants.

Oliver Gildart served an ominous warning by scoring Rovers' opener with less than three minutes on the clock, and although the expected avalanche was not forthcoming, the visitors barely had to break sweat as they proceeded to wrap up victory.

Good spells of possession from the Giants, who added Sam Halsall and Zac Woolford to their injury list last week, were undermined by frequent errors and an inspired piece of playmaking as Tyrone May sent Davies over for Rovers' second on 28 minutes.

May was proving the game's star performer by some distance, and he served up Rovers' third in the 38th minute with a brilliant, looping ball to send Joe Burgess in on the left flank.

One conversion apiece from Lewis and Rhyse Martin bolstered Rovers' half-time advantage to 16 points, and they increased it within moments of the restart as Lewis made space and threw an outrageous dummy to wrongfoot Asher O'Donnell and trot over for his side's fourth.

Huddersfield broke through when the gutsy George Flanagan dropped onto Tui Lolohea's high kick under the posts. But Rovers responded with a sweeping, crossfield move that sent Davies in for his second.

May sent Lewis clattering over before Martin contributed his third and final successful kick.
