Everton 2-0 Burnley: James Tarkowski and Kiernan Dewbury-Hall score as Toffees end Hill Dickinson struggles

James Tarkowski and Keirnan Dewsbury-Hall were on target as Everton ended their troubling home record in a 2-0 win over Burnley to secure a first victory at the Hill Dickinson since December and move within two points of sixth place.

Seven games on at their new ground, Tarkowski gave Everton the breakthrough when he converted James Garner's teasing set-piece delivery to head home against his former club.

The centre-back, who netted his first goal in a year, cupped his ears towards the away end as Everton set the foundations to keep their European dreams alive.

Dewsbury-Hall's second-half dink made sure of the result after he was teed up by Iliman N'diaye.

Burnley offered very little response to Everton's dominance, but Jordan Pickford's stoppage-time stop to deny Lyle Foster, his second after his sensational save at Newcastle on the weekend, will have sunk Clarets hearts.

The absence of an in-form Zian Flemming due to injury will have played a part in Burnley's lack of cutting edge. Though there was very little give from the away end, who could be heard chanting "You don't know what you're doing" as Parker replaced Hannibal Mejbri with 15 minutes to play.

In conceding two on the night, Burnley's tally for goals conceded stretches to 58, with no other side in the Premier League this season shipping more goals than the Clarets.

Back-to-back defeats for Burnley have opened up the door for bottom-side Wolves to close in on 19th place.

Everton head coach David Moyes to TNT Sports:

"It would be amazing if we could even get close [to Europe], which we are.

"I just look back at my time at West Ham, we were almost relegated and then we went on to get into Europe and did it three years in a row after that.

"The idea is we want to keep pushing. I try not to talk about it if I can help it, but I want to be positive to think we can do it. We're not talking about relegation anymore at the club and trying to move on.

"It's a really important win. I keep saying our away supporters have been treated great!

"We've not been doing so well for the home support but they were with us, they recognised how well we were doing and applauded the players who came off with the work they had put in - Dwight McNeil especially.

"Credit to the players to keep going. We have some big games coming up and hopefully everyone will be looking forward to them."

Burnley head coach Scott Parker to TNT Sports:

"We fell short in many aspects. Partly down to the quality Everton showed and the quality they had, which was clear for us to see.

"We were never in the game from start to finish. A lot of things are going through my mind at this moment in time, we just looked second-best to a lot of things and lacked real quality with the ball.

"We never laid a glove on them in the first half and fell short."
